Why We
Exist.

Being the Village is committed to amplifying the voices and experiences of Black mothers. We recognize the unique challenges and strengths that come with navigating motherhood in a society that often marginalizes and stigmatizes Black women and women of color.

We pride ourselves on creating a space where our participants can feel free to be their full selves, without fear of judgment.

Being The Village is one place where you can come and just be. You're welcome here & we can't wait to meet you!

Let's
Connect.

Words From A Mother.

There are not enough words to describe what
Being The Village means to me.

This group came into my life at just the right time, divinely so. I was fortunate enough to catch the last in-person group meet-up person prior to the pandemic turning the whole world upside down. But even holding space with these women, who not only look like me, but also shared similar experiences as I had as a (then) first time mom; was invaluable.

Mothering is hard, especially as a first time parent. Having a space of like-minded individuals, where you are seen, heard, and can simply just be; I will never take that for granted. From this village, beautiful friendships have been birthed, both for myself and my little.

One thing about life, it’s going to be life-ing; with so much going on I appreciate the presence and consistency of Being The Village and Chelsea. Thank you just doesn’t seem sufficient enough to describe the gratitude that I hold for this group and these women.
